Thoracic Surgery In The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery

Lisa Zhou, MD, PhD

Clinic Research Coordinator

"Fighting cancer is very challenging and, therefore, very rewarding when we make progress in our clinical studies and make a difference in people's lives."

Lisa Zhou, MD, PhD, completed her medical school and residency training in China. The realization that medical research could make a major difference in the quality of patient care was the basis for her decision to pursue a PhD in molecular and cellular pharmacology at Paris University (Paris VI, also named Marie Curie University) in France. She came to Stanford School of Medicine after completing her PhD and researched cancer biology, microvascular angiogenesis, and cancer immunology for ten years. She then joined the Division of Thoracic Surgery in 2006. She combines her cancer biology background with her cancer clinical research experience to provide high quality service to our lung cancer clinical trial patients. Her trilingual fluency in Chinese, French, and English allows her to better communicate with patients of different backgrounds.
